DO Empordà Wine Route

The Empordà region, show us an impressive vineyard landscapes, and a wide range of wines expressing his mediteranean essence. In Roses you can visit  vineyards on the countryside and also the ones near the sea, on the Cap de Creus' hills. Appelation of Origin Empordà

The Denomination of Origin Empordà, small but heterogeneous, covers a wide range of wines. More than 40 wineries are part of it, most in the Alt Empordà and some in the Baix Empordà. The own grape variety is Garnacha, here called Lledoner, in its various varieties: white, red and black and also the Carignan.

The cultivation of the vine has always dominated these lands, from the time of the Emportitans, passing through the ecclesiastical domains of Sant Pere de Rodes or Sant Quirze de Colera, until the cooperative movement after the phylloxera, already in the 20th century, and the most recent hatching of many initiatives imbued with enthusiasm and good office.

In the region you will discover all kinds of wineries, of different sizes and origins that you can choose according to your preference and where you are sure to find a good welcome.
